Artistic Statement

ChristineG.

I am Krisztina Gergő-Nagy, I live in Budapest. Since childhood I have been trying to express my feelings and thoughts through art. Music and dance are close to me, but I feel that painting and poetry are the most suitable forms of expression for me.

Through my art I want to pass on the wisdom, the extracts of my own life events that I have experienced over the years. Traumas and trials in my own life have taught me that you should never give up on anything, that you can always get up with renewed strength and start again. The unpredictable variety and mystery of SORS brings us new surprises every day.

My emotions are very intense, I am impulsive to events and happenings. I think my whole existence, my life, is a beautifully composed symphony. After many years, I have returned to an era when passing on my values to others was once again a priority. I would like to awaken feelings, love and thoughts through my paintings for those who are open to art. I believe that everything is related and connected.

Love... strength... purity...

I would like to show these traits in a different, yet similar, way in my "flower collection". The world of colours and shapes awakens in us basic feelings of elemental power.

My work is defined by 3 pillars:

  • Let us enjoy and respect LIFE
  • Let's join together and help those in need
  • Take care of our bodies, love ourselves and our inner world.

My aim is to add colour to the world of the blind. It is a difficult task, but not impossible. I bring my poems to the canvas in braille, which have a message. I do not use any tools other than a brush to create my paintings. Listening to my inner self, I instinctively come up with colours and lines. There is no pre-drawing, I just listen to the inner voice, that's how I compose the colours.

I also attach great importance to the preparation of the base and background of my painting, and I strive to make it valuable in itself. My line work has a strong dynamic. I love colour, but I am also attracted by the purity of simplicity. I draw light onto the canvas, making my abstract works in acrylic even more impulsive.

I would like my paintings to be a decoration of homes, but I also want to provide not only aesthetic pleasure, but also ideological value, guidance, positive momentum and support.
